"The Walking Dead" season 5 premiere comes with a whole new universe in store for the fans, in a companion series to the hit AMC show.
As if anticipation for "The Walking Dead" season 5 premiere isn't enough to keep fans salivating, show-runners confirmed a pilot to a companion series has been ordered for production.
The new series is set in the same universe as Rick Grimes and his crew of survivors, caught in a tight spot at Terminus. The show will shed light on how the Zombie Apocalypse devastated other parts of the world, something "The Walking Dead" hasn't revealed so far.
Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are confirmed to produce, with Dave Erickson of "Sons of Anarchy."
AMC President Charlie Collier teases the drive of the companion series. "Almost from the beginning of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC, fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world. In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it's the question I get asked the most."
Looks like the "The Walking Dead" season 5 premiere will be set in a multiverse of sorts, similar to CSI and its franchise of different, complementing series.
"There are many corners of 'The Walking Dead' universe that remain unseen in the shadows. Being given the opportunity to shine a light into those corners and see what lurks out there is an absolute thrill. I know the fans are anxious to hear what Dave and I have been cooking up for this new universe of 'The Walking Dead,' and I'm happy to be one step closer to sharing it with them."
Collier assures fans the producers are treading this new ground carefully, maintaining stewardship of the franchise.
"Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct. We're thrilled to be taking this next step with these remarkable partners." (source: yahoo.com)
