New York Fashion Week 2014 was graced by celebrities. Washington Post reported stars such as Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and other crowd-drawers that attended the Spring 2015 shows of top designers like Alexander Wang and Christian Siriano.
One of the most-highly anticipated collections at the bi-annual fashion showcase is Alexander Wang's show. The designer revealed that the overarching design theme for his Spring 2015 collection were sneakers, which he says "have always been part of (my) uniform".
Alexander Wang added: "It's something that's iconic in my generation - you know, a cult of sneakers."
Among Alexander Wang's New York Fashion Week 2014 celebrities were pop diva Rihanna, "Anaconda" rapper Nicki Minaj, and former model Lauren Hutton. The three reportedly sat together at the front row of the star designer's show.
Nicki Minaj described Alexander Wang's style: "He doesn't necessarily have a colorful, crazy style, but it's his own thing and he kind of coins his own sort of image and I love it."
"He designs stuff that's cool, young, edgy, easy to wear," Rihanna said about Alexander Wang. "It's everything that I believe in." According to a report from Grazia, RiRi first attended the NYFW SS 2015 show of designer Adam Selman - the man behind the controversial Swarovski crystal gown that she wore at the CFDA Awards.
Meanwhile, the Spring 2015 preview of former "Project Runway" champion Christian Siriano consisted of sheer materials, full silhouettes, and heavy beading. The designer said at a backstage interview: "We're playing with a lot of different transparent fabrics, but sculpting them in a really beautiful way."
New York Fashion Week 2014 celebrities present at the show of the reality TV designer included actresses Jada Pinkett Smith and Mena Suvari, model Coco Rocha, and professional skier Lindsey Vonn.
On the other hand, the theme of the Spring 2015 collection of Herve Leger by Max Azria was described by Washington Post as that of a "samurai warrior". The designer's pieces were adorned with metal and bandage materials.
Among the New York Fashion Week 2014 celebrities in attendance at the Herve Leger by Max Azria show were former "Gossip Girl" cast member Katie Cassidy and "Orange Is The New Black" star Laverne Cox. Other attendees included actress Sami Gayle and model Petra Nemcova.
Singer and producer Pharrell was also among the New York Fashion Week 2014 celebrities, as he showcased his RAW for the Oceans Spring-Summer collection.
The "Happy" singer said to the crowd: "It's very easy to forget we live on this planet. We don't want to just talk about it, but we actually wanted to put it in practice."
