What Robert Downey Jr. said a few months ago started the "Iron Man 4" rumors and fans were happy to hear that there's hope for another sequel. The actor that plays Tony Stark told Entertainment Weekly, "It's down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree." He added, "When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement."
There were also rumors that Robert Downey Jr. may be replaced by a younger actor and he revealed how he felt about it. He said, "It's that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?" The 49-year old actor added, "Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out."
It seems that Marvel didn't do anything from the time that Robert Downey Jr. showed interest on doing another sequel. During a recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, Forbes' highest paid actor tried to end all "Iron Man 4" rumors. The Hollywood superstar told Variety, "There isn't one in the pipe." He revealed, "No, there's no plan for a fourth Iron Man."
The actor just finished filming "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" and he is also expected to star in "Avengers 3", which will be released in 2015 and 2018 respectively. Apart from those Marvel movies, he is also busy with his own production. He was actually at the TIFF to promote his latest film "The Judge" together with co-star Robert Duvall.
Because of his busy schedule, the latest "Iron Man 4" rumors were about the replacement of Robert Downey Jr. When he was asked if he's willing to give his role to a new actor, he was quite thrilled about it. He said, "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel." However, Duvall advised him not to give it to anybody else.
Who do you think will Robert Downey Jr. choose to replace him? Do you think it's about time we see a new actor for "Iron Man 4"?
