The biggest question in the Scandal TV series universe is "Where on earth is Olivia Pope?" And true enough, this is the banner question that flashes on the screen in the just-released Scandal season 4 trailer.
In the teaser from ABC, we see President Fitzgerald Grant, played by Tony Goldwyn trying to ring up Olivia Pope and her phone rings in an empty apartment. The screen then flashes to a woman, whom we are meant to believe is Olivia, lounging on an ivory beach chair facing the ocean, with a gull glass of red wine by her side.
If this is really indeed Olivia in this newest ABC Scandal season 4 trailer, then good for her. After troubleshooting plenty of Washington crisis and scandals, Olivia Pope, played by the fabulous Kerry Washington needs this relaxing vacation far, far away.
Scandal if of course the well-received political TV series created by Shona Rhimes, which is loosely based on the experiences of George H.W. Bush press aide Judy Smith (Smith is a co-executive producer on the series). The series revolves around Olivia Pope and her crisis management company called Olivia Pope and associates, and follows their experiences as they handle one crisis after another that hits the White House.
The Hollywood Reporter recently interviewed the show's creator Shonda Rhimes, who revealed several interesting tidbits for the show that was not shown on the Scandal season 4 trailer. Rhimes shared that the Scandal series will be focusing more on stories of the lives of a core group of people in the cast, and no longer to such widereaching and interweaving plotlines and characters.
Scandal will be premiering on September 25, Thursday on ABC with a pilot episode called "Randy, Red, Superfreak and Julia." This season premiere takes place two months after the last season ended, and according to ABC's official plot synopsis:
"Nearly two months after Olivia and Jake boarded a private jet to stand in the sun together, everything has changed. With another four years in the White House, Fitz and Cyrus re doing everything they can to make a positive impact on the nation. Meanwhile, Mellie struggles to cope with the loss of her son and the gladiators feel the impact of Olivia's absence."
