Bestselling author JK Rowling shocked the Harry Potter fandom and most of the reading population when she revealed that one of its beloved characters was actually gay.

"I always thought of [Albus] Dumbledore as gay," she said in a Q and A for the saga in New York back in 2007. "If I had known this would have made you so happy, I would have told you years ago."

Not all fans rejoiced over the announcement, however, and one particular reader took to twitter to speak out about it recently.

"Once u revealed Dumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan," a certain Frank Fraticelli announced on Twitter. "Nice how u blindsided us with that one. Enjoy your billion $."

The British author didn't let this comment slide and promptly posted a witty reply to the since deleted account.

"I advise you to start following Brian Souter at once. He's much more your kind of person," she told Fraticelli on Saturday.

Souter financed and supported a campaign to maintain the Scottish law of banning schools from teaching and accepting homosexuality.

He donated £1 million to try and stop the Scottish government from repealing Section 2A of the Local Government Act. The law which originally stated that local governments should not "promote homosexuality" was repealed in 2000.

Even after JK Rowling's comment and backlash from social media, the Twitter user remained unapologetic.

"I made a comment about JKR + her homosexual wizard and my twitter account exploded," The Independent reported him as writing. "EXCUSE ME for NOT accepting that deviant lifestyle lol."

The 'Harry Potter' author didn't reply to him after that, but she did thank fans who sent her supportive messages. She couldn't resist another jab at the former fan, though, posting, "To paraphrase Albus Dumbedore... If you're waiting for universal popularity, you'll be on Twitter a VERY long time. XXXX"
