Joe Rogan's WWE rants, which featured him lambasting pro-wrestling, its competitors, and its fans has gone viral. The UFC analyst later admitted that he had gotten flak from fans regarding the statements he made.
Joe Rogan's WWE rants were made during one of his podcast episodes entitled The Joe Rogan Experience, wherein he featured fellow comedian Tony Hinchcliffe as a guest. It was mentioned in the show's particular segment that Hinchcliffe was a die-hard WWE fan, and was originally offered a writing job with the pro-wrestling corporation.
Rogan then went on to castigate the entire business of professional wrestling, mainly focusing on how shows were following scripts written beforehand.
"[Wresting] is some weird, fucking jerk-off thing that strange guys do, sit in front of the TV and pretend they don't know it's fake," Rogan said. "You're pretending. You don't want to know. You shut that part of your brain off."
The UFC analyst went on with his rant, and went as far as comparing it with watching animals kill each other on television, which again, was centered on how "fake" the entire concept was.
"I'd watch lions killing gazelles on television because that's real," Rogan continued. "I need real. I can't get entertained by fake. When you watch Game of Thrones and you watch a guy get his head cut off, you know what it looks like? It looks like a guy actually getting his head cut off."
But it did not end there. Joe Rogan also criticized fans of the WWE by insinuating that viewers who enjoyed the shows were shallow.
"You know what else would stun that audience? A simple card trick," he said. "It's all planned out, it's obvious."
Joe Rogan's WWE rants apparently drew flak from fans, as admitted by the UFC analyst himself through Twitter.
"Pro wrestling fans hate-tweeting me, I love lots of shit that sucks too," Rogan wrote. "I watch hunting shows and I've seen Road House at least 30 times."
