The reported sequel to Tom Cruise hit movie Top Gun was put on indefinite hold in the wake of the tragic death of director Tony Scott. But news came out today that the Top Gun 2 movie will be steamrolling ahead. According to CinemaBlend, scriptwriter Justin Marks is now in talks with Paramount Pictures to pen the screenplay to Top Gun 2. Jerry Bruckheimer, a producer in the original movie will also be producing this sequel, and it is reported that he is keen on making sure this movie finally gets made.
The original Top Gun movie revolved around US fighter jet pilots, and it was topbilled by Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. The movie went on become of the top grossing films of the 1980s. IT grossed $ 350 million in the worldwide box office. Top Gun became a cult favorite with Tom Cruise' character Maverick becoming one of the most iconic movie characters of all time. Director Tony Scott shot to fame because of the movie, where before his work was mostly in commercials. It was reported that the film's producers Don Simson and Jerry Bruckheimer asked Scott to direct the movie, after seeing a commercial of his where a Saab car raced a fighter plane.
