Former "The Voice" coach CeeLo Green has been dropped from the The BayFest Music Festival's lineup following the comments he made about rape on Twitter.
The festival organizers released an official statement which read, "In light of the recent comments attributed to CeeLo Green that are contrary to the beliefs and conscience of BayFest Music Festival, Mr. Green's performance at the 2014 BayFest Music Festival on Oct. 4 has been cancelled."
CEO and president of the festival, Bobby Bostwick added, "When all is said and done, his comments are just not what we want associated with us."
Bostwick also revealed that their contract with CeeLo originally amounted to $100,00 but refused to divulge details whether or not he was already paid the said amount, Beauty World News noted.
"Even if we don't have to pay CeeLo anything in the result, we got to spend a lot of money redoing commercials at the last minute. It's just a turmoil on our 20th anniversary, we didn't need that. And I really don't want to be associated, neither does our board of directors, with an act that just kind of blatantly said what he apparently said," Bostwick added.
Just this week, CeeLo was also taken off the bill at the Gretna Heritage Festival in Louisiana and the Freedom Live concert at the Joint-Base Anacostia-Bolling military base in Washington, DC, according to MTV News.
Last month, the former reality show judge sparked controversy after he pled no contest to furnishing controlled substance. He then posted a series of tweets about rape and said, "If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously. People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!"
"So if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?"
CeeLo later on deleted the series of tweets and kind of apologized for his statements but it was too late. His reality show "The Good Life" has also been axed by TBS, but they claimed it was due to low ratings.
