True detective season 2 cast

It's one of the biggest casting secrets on television today, and although the big bosses at HBO earlier this year teased that the True Detective season 2 cast was going to be revealed soon, all we have are still rumors and speculations. Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Jessica Chastain are just some of the names that have been linked to HBO's detective drama.

One of the biggest news about the casting though, is that one of the leads will be a strong female role. It will be recalled that True Detective season 1 revolved around two detectives played by A listers Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. This time around, a female lead, plus two male roles are in the center of the series.

Recently, Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men has been rumored to be the frontrunner for the female lead on True Detective. While news came out today that another actress is also vying for the same coveted role. Actress Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls, The Notebook) is also reportedly up for the same role. According to Variety, "The fourth lead, which has always been intended to be a female character, is still being figured out but sources say Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams are in the running."

In a report by The Wrap, the female lead description goes like this: "Ani Bezzerides, a tough, no-nonsense Monterey sheriff whose troubled upbringing has driven her to gambling and alcohol."

As for the male leads in the True Detective season 2 cast, there are many names that have come up in connection with the roles. But recently three names have surfaced that are said to be the serious contenders. One is Vince Vaughn, according to a source by E! News. The two other actors in the running are Colin Farrel and Friday Night Lights' Taylor Kitsch.

Cast announcements should be made very soon, so stay tuned to find out who will be topbilling the critically acclaimed HBO show!
