LA Lakers news and rumors are buzzing about the team trying to target Marc Gasol to replace brother Pau Gasol who left for Chicago Bulls this offseason. Kobe Bryant will also get ample bench support, although the starters leave much to be desired.
Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders weighed in on the LA Lakers news and rumors involving Marc Gasol in a tweet: "@RambysPro: Any chance Marc Gasol goes to LA? --> he'll be an unrestricted free agent, so always possible, don't get the sense he's looking."
Marc Gasol will become an unrestricted free agent next season.
Those who follow LA Lakers news and rumors closely know that Marc Gasol was originally drafted by the Lakers in 2008 but was traded for Pau Gasol. That decision proved to be fruitful as the team won two championships with the lanky Spaniard in the middle, playing Robin to Kobe Bryant's Batman.
Meanwhile, Mark Medina wrote for InsideSoCal that coach Byron Scott already has a tentative lineup for the starters in mind.
Among those who will join Kobe Bryant to start games are Steve Nash, Carlos Boozer and Jordan Hill. The small forward, however, will still have to be decided although the coach already said that Nick Young will be coming off the bench. That means either Wesley Johnson or Xavier Henry will start.
"When I saw Wesley last year, I loved some of the games he played and other games I was wondering where he was," he said, adding that he needs to be more consistent in order to be successful in the league.
Mark Medina, who wrote about the latest LA Lakers news and rumors, said that the coach is more comfortable having veterans joining Kobe Bryant to start games.
"That's how I look at it right now. But when the ball is thrown up September 30th, if the next guy can beat the guy in front of them, so be it," Byron Scott told the website.
