Saturday Night Live writer, Michael Che will jump in with Colin Jost for the Weekend Update, desk for the incoming 40th season of the late night show in NBC.

Cecily Strong was replaced by Michael Che, who will come back as a repertory player or full time cast member, as the long time comedy program calls them as sketch stars.

Strong co-hosted with Seth and Josh Meyers in the Weekend Update, when Saturday Night Live head writer Meyers left in February, he replaced Jimmy Fallon at Late Night, Jost joined them as chair and head scribe role in Update.
