Katie Holmes news revealed the ex wife of actor Tom Cruise is set on making her directorial debut. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former "Dawson's Creek" actress will star in and direct a big screen adaptation of the book "All We Had".
"All We Had" is a story of a mother, to be played in the film by Katie Holmes, who struggled with poverty while raising her 13-year-old daughter. The novel was released in August by first-time book author Annie Weatherwax.
The film's script will be written by "The Fault in Our Stars" director Josh Boone, while "Little Fockers'" Jane Rosenthal will produce the project, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Katie Holmes news reported that the 35-year-old made her decision in July. At that time, the team expected that the former teen star would only produce and/or appear in the film. However, the single mom is reportedly keen on making "All We Had" as her directorial debut.
Producer Jane Rosenthal said in a statement: "Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship."
"Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of every day, will truly bring these characters to life," Jane Rosenthal added.
While having multiple roles as director, actress, and producer, the single mom clarified that her 8-year-old daughter Suri is still her priority. Earlier Katie Holmes news from Glamour Magazine reported how the actress said: "I am really focused on motherhood and work right now."
With motherhood as her priority, Katie Holmes added that spending time with Suri has made her realize a lot of things.
"The biggest change? I think you don't know-I didn't know how much love I had in me. It's overwhelming. Every day I discover more about this spectacular human being I get to be the mother of," Katie Holmes told Glamour Magazine.
