Last year's tweet reads:

However, in a recent post of Hallels.com, Dwayne confirmed that he is to join in upcoming DC movie "Shazam". Accordingly, he will play not as 'Shazam', but as 'Black Adam'. The proof of this news is his tweet on September 8:

On the other hand, The 21 Jumpstreet actor Channing Tatum is said to be the ideal actor to join in D.C movie, said by Enstarz.

"Tatum would be perfect to capture both the physicality and the humor of the character with producers needing to not look much further than his last movie, 22 Jump Street, to see the hilarious moments mixed with the action ones. It would also allow Tatum to get his own superhero franchise and be able to mold his own character within it."-Enstarz.

Additionally, the source mentioned there is no release date announced. However, one of the Shazam rumors say that the release date could be in 2016 or 2017.

Meanwhile on ScreenRant post, the publication said this film is not connected to 'Justice League' Shared Universe. The publication cited the statement of Toby Emmerich saying

"It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself,"

"It's a DC comic, but it's not a Justice League character, and it's not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies... [It] will have a sense of fun and a sense of humor. But the stakes have to be real."
