There are more movies to expect from the 'Now You See Me' villain-actor Morgan Freeman. One of them is the remake of 1959 film 'Ben-Hur.
According to Deadline, the 2005 Academy Award winner for Best Actor in a Supporting Role Morgan Freeman has signed to star in the "Ben-Hur" remake.
Syracuse.com mentioned that the 77-year-old actor will play the character of Hugh Griffiths. In the film story, he trains the titular slave in chariot racing.
The publication said this film project isn't technically a remake of the 1959 movie, a new adaptation of Lew Wallace's 1880 novel produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey (of "The Bible" miniseries).
The film story focuses more on Judah Ben-Hur's friendship with Messala. Morever, it will include a story line about Jesus Christ. Currently, no actor has been chosen yet for this role.
Deadline added the new version 'Ben-Hur' remake will also focus one the blood feud between Judah Ben-Hur and Messala, who grew up best friends before the Roman Empire took control of Jerusalem.
Other details shared by Deadline reads "Judah Ben-Hur was a Jewish prince and Messala the son of a Roman tax collector. After the latter leaves to be educated in Rome for five years, the young man returns with a different attitude and mocks Judah and his religion. When a procession passes by Judah's house and a roof tile accidentally falls and hits the governor, Messala betrays his childhood friend and manipulates the accident so that Judah is sold into slavery and certain death on a Roman warship, with his mother and sister thrown in prison for life. Judah vows revenge, culminating in the famed chariot races."
