Techland has announced the "Dying Light" release date on Twitter.
The zombie survival horror will be available on January 27, 2015, and will have Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC versions. The game will be released a few days earlier than the original February unveiling.
This early, the highly anticipated release is already available for pre-orders online. For $59.99, the pre-ordered version will include "Be the Zombie," a game mode that enables players to become a Night Hunter- a special kind of zombie that possesses a different set of lethal capabilities.
Not only will the pre-ordered game have that option, but it will also allow players to intrude other players' games as the Night Hunter. As International Business Times puts it, "'Be the Zombie' is a competitive multiplayer mode that pits the Night Hunter against human survivors.
In a press release, Techland explained what kind of gameplay players can expect.
"Up to 4 players will be able to team up to face the dangers of the day and the terrors of the night -- two distinct sides of 'Dying Light's' gameplay," said the studio
As IBT adds, "In "Dying Light," which is told from a first-person perspective, you can explore the game's open world as a human survivor, searching for items and battling the undead. Players can equip themselves with weapons like a spiked baseball bat, a pistol and an electric ax. You can also swim through water, climb walls and explore the rooftops of buildings."
The "Dying Light" release date was supposed to be this year. But Techland had originally moved it to February 2015 because of the studio's "desire to innovate," as IGN said.
"The new date ensures that we can fully realize our vision of an innovative open-world game. We won't need to make compromises or trade-offs on any of the five platforms we're working on. For you, it means an outstanding, original game that makes the wait more than worthwhile," the studio said in an official statement.
