LA Lakers news outlets are getting busy for a long grind as players get ready for training camp with report that the team is set to fit in super rookie Julius Randle.
The LA Times dished out the latest LA Lakers news as the players will again converge at the practice facility in El Segundo on September 29 for the official start of the training camp.
The team will then play Denver Nuggest on October 6 for an exhibition game at the Valley View Casino Center.
"Coming off their worst record since moving to Los Angeles (27-55), the Lakers expect to rebound in the 2014-15 season, starting on Oct. 28 at home against the Houston Rockets," it said.
Before the start of the season, however, the team will play eight exhibition games, two of which will be held at the Staples Center against the Golden State Warriors (October 9) and the Utah Jazz (October 19).
The rest are road games against the Warriors ( October 12), the Portland Trail Blazers (October 22), Jazz (October 16) and Phoenix Suns (October 21). Finally, the team will play the Sacramento Kings at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on October 24.
"The team has a new coach (Byron Scott taking over for Mike D'Antoni) and hopes to have a healthy Kobe Bryant for the entire season. The all-star missed all but six games last season with knee and Achilles' injuries," Eric Pincus of LA Times wrote.
Meanwhile, Hoops Habit reported more LA Lakers news when it said that Julius Randle would be a perfect fit for the purple and gold.
"Randle was a bully in the paint in college. He's aggressive, never quits on a play and always goes all out. He's been compared to Zach Randolph because of his style of play, which is a very solid comparison," Nathan Giese wrote.
"LA likes to try and be 'so fancy,' but keeping it simple with Randle's growth would be in their best interest. Let him start from day one and go from there," he added.
