Almost 4 years have passed since the last "Saw VII movie premiered. It is still a mystery if the movie franchise will continue (which will be Saw VIII) or if it will have a remake.

According to DenofGeek post on November 6, 2013, "There's no remake: it seems as if Lionsgate is pushing ahead with a new Saw sequel instead..."

After "Saw" VII was released in 3D, which reportedly garnered $136m worldwide, follow up sequel was in talks.

Bloody Disgusting reported "Lionsgate is incredibly active in developing an eighth Saw".
Added to this report, it says that this isn't a project that's being rushed and surely not a remake. The plan is to continue Saw 8, rather than start all over again.

Slashfilm.com said, the thriller franchise movie was very inconsistent. The author Germain Lussier added " few films were great, others were terrible, while most rode the middle."
