'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Remake In The Works; Mike Flanagan Hired By Sony Pictures To Work On The New Version Of 90'Slasher Film; Release Date Set For 2016?

90's horror flick based on Lois Duncan's book will be back in theaters!

"I Know What You Did Last Summer" remake is coming! Sources that confirmed the comeback of this movie are MTV, ScreenRant, and FirstShowing.net.

The 1997 version of this horror flick was starred by Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Ray Bronson, Sarah Michelle Geller as Helen, bestfriend of Julie (her character murdered in part 1 of this movie), and Brandy Norwood as Karla Wilson.

The plot of the movie according to IMBD and written by FilmFanUK reads,

"When four friends accidentally hit and kill a man on a road at night, they start to panic and decide to dump the body into the sea. A year later, they all try to settle down again, but one of the friends receives a note in the post, with the words 'I know what you did last summer'. As each of the friends gains their own reminder, they finally accept the one thing they feared the most; someone knows what happened that night, and now they're out for revenge."

According to Deadline, the "Oculus" director Mike Flanagan was hired by Sony Pictures to write and produce "I Know What You Did Last Summer" Remake. However, the director to helm the film has not been announced yet alongside the target date of release.

But ScreenRant mentioned on their report that the remake of this film is aiming to be premiered in 2016.

Casts are not yet announced as the film is still under development.
