If you're a huge fan of the 80s adventure-comedy film, then you will surely be thrilled to know that there are plans for "The Goonies 2". The news came from a reliable source and that is no other than Richard Donner, who directed the original film back in 1985. He also revealed the involvement of Steven Spielberg, who produced "The Goonies", in the sequel.

The 84-year old filmmaker dropped the juicy details during an interview with TMZ. Donner was asked any updates on "The Goonies 2" and he sounded in the video like he doesn't know about it. He said, "I better ask Steven." TMZ asked him if Steven Spielberg was involved and Donner replied "Of course."

The website finally got Richard Donner to talk more about "The Goonies 2". He said, "Hopefully we're going to get this done, period. Spielberg came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years." TMZ confirmed if it was the idea of Steven Spielberg and he admitted it was his. Donner said, "You don't do it without him, and he came up with another storyline and he's right on."

When asked if Josh Brolin and the other original cast will return for "The Goonies" sequel, the director casually replied: "God knows it's up to them. If they have any sense, they will, if they don't, they won't." It only goes to show that he won't convince everyone to return as some of them were skeptical about "The Goonies 2", including Corey Feldman.

The 43-year old actor told TMZ, "It can't be done without a perfect script! We all must be certain that it doesn't miss the magic of the original." With Spielberg on board, we are pretty sure that "The Goonies 2" is in good hands.
