Which smartphone is the better purchase? We compare the iPhone 5C against Nexus 5 to see which device is the ideal choice for consumers
In terms of design and display, the Nexus 4 has a 4.7 inches True HD IPS Plus display that can render a resolution of 768×1280pixels and 318ppi. The smartphone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and the displayed images are natural, crisp and the colors are vibrant and it weighs 139 grams.
Apple's iPhone 5C features a 4 inches LED-backlit IPS LCD display with 16M colors, a lower screen resolution of 640x1136pixels, but offers a better pixel density of 326ppi. It is 7 grams ligther than its rival.
For the hardware and OS, the Nexus 4 is powered by a powerful quad-core 1.5GHz Krait processor which is backed up by a Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon chipset and an Adreno 320 GPU, while the iPhone 5C has a dual-core 1.3GHz Swift (ARM v7-based) processor, which couples with an Apple A6 chipset and a PowerVR SGX 543MP3 (triple-core graphics) GPU. Both smartphones have unexpandable memories: the Nexus 4 is available in two variants: 8 and 16GB of internal storage, while the iPhone 5C has three variants: 8, 16 and 32GB.
The Nexus 4 runs on the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)OS, which is upgradable to the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version, having 2GB of RAM, while the iPhone 5C runs on Apple’s iOS 7, which can be upgraded to the iOS 7.1.2, and soon, it will receive the iOS 8 update.
For battery and camera specs, both smartphones have non-removable batteries which offer a backup time of 2 years. The Nexus 4 has a Li-Ion 2100mAh battery which allows users to talk for 15 hours on 3G, while the iPhone 5C has a Li-Po 1510mAh battery that lets users talk for 10 hours on 3G.
The Google smartphone has an 8MP rear camera with LED flashlight, autofocus, 1080p Full HD video recording, face detection, geo tagging etc. The other camera is 1.3MP, which can be considered slightly better than ist rival.
The Apple unit has a 1.2MP front camera and a rear camera of 8MP. It has the following features such as autofocus, 1080p Full HD video and image recording, focus via touch, HDR etc.
The Nexus 4 16GB variant is worth $350 in amazon.com, while the iPhone 5C cost $494.
