Which smartphone is worth the purchase We compare the HTC Desire 616 against the Blackberry Z3 to see which device is better.

In terms of design and display, both smartphones have 5 inches displays, but they support different resolutions. The Blackberry Z3 renders a resolution of 540×960 pixels and the pixel density sits at 220ppi, plus it features an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. The smartphone dimensions are 140×72.8×9.3mm and weighs 160 grams.

The HTC Desire 616 offers more vivid colors thanks to its resolution of 720x1280pixels and pixel density of 294ppi. The screen supports 16M colors and comes with accelerometer and proximity sensors, as well and has HTC Sense 5.5 UI. The smartphone is 10 grams lighter and its dimensions are 142×71.9×9.2 mm.

For the hardware and OS, the Blackberry Z3 has a dual core 1.2Ghz Krait 200 processor, which couples with a Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon 400 SoC and an Adreno 305 GPU, and the 1.5GB of RAM. It runs on the BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS and its internal memory, it has a capacity of 8GB, which is expandable up to 32GB.

The HTC Desire 616 is an Android device running on the 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) version, with 1GB of RAM. Its processor is an octa core 1.4GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, based on a Mediatek MT6592 SoC, and the smartphone uses a Mali-450MP4 GPU. It has 4GB of internal storage, but users can expand it up to 32GB.

For the battery and camera specs, the Blackberry Z3 has a non-removable Li-Ion 2500mAh battery which provides up to 15 hours and a half of talktime on 3G, while the HTC Desire 616 has a Li-Po 2000mAh battery with which users can talk 14 hours on 3G.

The Blackberry Z3 has 5MP rear camera and features such as autofocus, LED flash and geo tagging, plus it records videos at 1080p. For video calling, users can use the 1.1MP camera on the front, which has a pixel quality of 720p.

The HTC Desire 616 has a far more advanced rear camera, with a resolution of 8MP and more features which include: autofocus, LED flash, geo tagging, HDR, simultaneous HD video and image recording and face detection. The camera can record videos at 1080p@30fps and there’s also another camera on the front of 2MP with the same video recording capabilities.

The Blackberry Z3 is around $250 , while the HTC Desire 616 is $20 more expensive than its rival.
