Which Motorola smartphone is worth the purchase? We compare the Moto G against the Moto G2 to see which is better.
For the design and display, the Motorola Moto G has a 4.5inches sharp HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720x1280pixels and 326ppi. The Moto G2 will feature a bigger display of 5inches, bundled with the same resolution.
The Moto G measures 129.9×65.9×11.6 mm and weighs 143 grams. It also ha a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and its body is made of plastic. The Moto G 4G LTE variant has a water resistant coat for protection although the smartphone doesn't have IP67 certification. The Moto G2 will come with the same feature, although for now there is no information indicating this. As for the exterior of the G2, according to the leaked images, the phone will have narrow bezels.
Forthe hardware and OS, the Motorola Moto G is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A7 processor with four cores, supported by a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset and uses an Adreno 305 GPU, while the Moto G2 will have the same hardware specs as it predecessor. The 2013 version has two unexpandable variants of internal memories of 8 and 16GB, while the 4G LTE version hosts 8GB of built in storage, but it allows expansion up to 32GB. As for the Moto G2, it's supposed to come with 8 and 16GB of internal storage and it will support a microSD card slot, but we don't know yet what will be the maximum allowed capacity. Both devices host 1GB of RAM, but we don't have information regarding Moto G2's RAM capacity. If the Moto G 4G LTE comes loaded with Android v4.4.2 KitKat and you're allowed to upgrade to v4.4.4 KitKat, the Moto G2 will have v4.4.4 KitKat installed on it.
For the battery and camera specs, the Motorola Moto G has a non-removable Li-Ion 2070mAh battery, and though we don't know anything about Moto 2's battery capacity, it seems that the phone will feature a removable rear panel.
The Moto G 4G LTE sports a 5MP rear camera with 2592х1944pixels, autofocus, LED flash, geo tagging, face detection, panorama, HDR and touch focus, while the Moto G2 steps up and offers you an 8MP primary camera with similar features. The secondary snapper on the Moto G is 1.3MP, while the Moto G2 will have a 2MP front shooter.
The Motorola Moto G 4G LTE 8GB variant cost $200 on amazon.com, while the Moto G2 will be $14 more expensive.
