At last! Confirmed news for the hottest HBO drama series since Game of Thrones. Ever since the brilliant first season of the detective drama, anticipation and speculation has been high about any news about the second season. Especially about who will be replacing A-list actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in their much praised leading roles. And now, we finally have a True Detective season 2 cast confirmation.

Irish actor Colin Farrell has just confirmed that he will be one of the lead actors in True Detective season 2! This report comes by way of the Sunday World world website after months of speculation that has arisen surround the True Detective season 2 cast. Some names that have become attached to the project included Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Benicio del Toro. For the reported female lead, Jessica Chastain's name was linked to the role.

But all these rumors and speculations soon died down and the reported frontrunners for the True Detective season 2 cast became whittled down to a couple of names: Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch of Friday Night Lights, and Colin Farrell. As for the ladies, it has reportedly come down to Rachel McAdams and Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss.

And as mentioned earlier, one of these names has just confirmed for us that indeed he is going to be part of the newest season.

"I'm doing the second series. I'm so excited," the 38-year-old actor revealed to Sunday World.

The Irish actor went on to explain that he is especially looking forward to the role because it will mean he will be working close to home.

"I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids," Colin shared.
