"Star Wars Episode 7" rumors point to a small figure on the Millennium Falcon which throws a tribute to the Batman franchise. Is this a sign for a possible mash-up with Batman V Superman?
The New York Daily News confirmed the "Star Wars Episode 7 rumors" when it shared a clip titled "Hunka Junk" released by director JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions on Thursday showing the Millennium Falcon, which is piloted by Han Solo and his trusty sidekick Chewie after winning the ship from Lando Calrissian on a wager.
The clip started innocently enough as the camera zooms into the finished Millennium Falcon, and could be JJ Abrams' answer to the leaked photography by photographer Matthew Myatt a little over a week ago, where he captured images of the production crew working on the ship along with the smaller X-Wing fighter beside it.
It was the same ship where Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury which delayed production for a couple of weeks.
Instead, JJ Abrams revealed an Easter egg as pinned on the underside of the ship is a replica of the Batmobile from the Dark Knight series.
"And if the visual reference wasn't clear enough, the 36-second clip switches from John Williams' original "Binary Sunset" to Hank Zimmer's Bat-score in time for the big reveal," NY Daily News added.
Tom Butler of Yahoo UK wrote that JJ Abrams and "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zack Snyder have been trying to one-up another over how many mash-ups they could think of over social media.
In August, JJ Abrams posted a photo of C3PO wearing a Batman costume standing on a ledge of Gotham's skyline.
Zack Snyder tweeted over the weekend of Gotham police arresting a stormtrooper who commandeered a batmobile. Before that, he also shared a pic of Henry Cavill as Superman wearing a Jedi costume.
"Could this social media love affair just a long-winded PR campaign for a Snyder spin-off?" he asked, since earlier "Star Wars Episode 7" rumors hinted of a spinoff to be directed by Zack Snyder and supposed inspired by "Seven Samurai."
