After being introduced through a backdoor pilot for CSI season 14, CBS promptly scheduled the new spinoff, 'CSI: Cyber' for a mid-season debut.

The CSI spinoff has already introduced its main character-Patricia Arquette as Special Agent Avery Ryan of the cyber crime division as a guest character in CSI Las Vegas.

CBS has also announced several other names that will join Arquette in her fight against online criminals.

Shad Moss or Bow Wow, 'Dawson's Creek' star James Van Der Beek, 'Community' actor Charley Koontz, and 'Numb3rs' actor Peter MacNicol will headline 'CSI: Cyber' along with Arquette.

Van Der Beek will join the group as FBI Agent Elijah Mundo, "an expert in battlefield forensics recruited by Special Agent Avery Ryan (series star Patricia Arquette) for his war efforts in Afghanistan."

Koontz will play Agent Daniel Grummitz while MacNicol will portray Assistant Director Stavros Sifter, Arquette's supervisor in the series. Meanwhile, Moss will play cyber-intrusion expert Brody "Baby Face" Nelson.

TV Line most recently confirmed the addition of '90210' star Luke Perry to the new CBS crime drama. Set for a recurring role, Perry's character will reportedly shed light to Arquette's Special Agent Ryan.

According to TV Line, Perry will play former FBI agent Nick Dalton, who was "destined" to join the division in Washington DC. After a "'classified' falling out" with FBI, he will supposedly aim to become a 'futurist' for the sector.

He will also bear "many secrets to Avery's backstory."

'CSI: Cyber,' which focuses on "illegal activities that start in the mind, live online, and play out in the real world," was reportedly based on an actual work by cyber psychologist Mary Aiken.

The show's backdoor premiere in CSI features Arquette working with the CSI crew in Las Vegas for a blackmailing case that used an innocent woman's face for sexual extortion.

CBS has already created 'CSI:Miami' and 'CSI:New York' as separate shows off of CSI Las Vegas.

How well do you think this new spinoff will do?
