The American team of Tom Watson arrived before 10am today at Edinhurgh Airport and were welcomed by a host of dignitaries and Paul McGinley, making them ahead of this week's Ryder Cup clash with Europe at Gleneagles.

From the interview with Sky Sports News, Watson said that everybody in the team is in great spirits. He also said, as he described the ambience in the camp, that he was very confident that this year's trophy will be bagged by his side for the first time since their victory in Vahalla way back 2008.

"We had several hours before the plane took off, we all got together and had a chat at the beginning of the journey and now we're on Scottish ground and we're looking forward to the match this week.", Watson continued.

"It's a culmination of two years since I was asked to be captain and now here we are with the team in place and looking forward to some very spirited matches with Paul's European team.

"One of the things about the Ryder Cup is that it brings so many people in the world of golf together. It is one of the major events of golf and to be here and be a part of it is a wonderful experience already."

"On paper we're underdogs, but the spirit of this team is anything but. I believe that we can win."

And Watson also mentioned that the team gone seriously into pairings as he doesn't think that there's any rocket science pairing involved.

"We're going to be pairing some people that have been paired before and they're just going to have to go out and do what they have to do."

On the other hand, McGinley greeted the team a very simple 'Welcome to Scotland' message and recognized American's confidence for the upcoming game. But then, McGinley stayed confident that his team could retain the trophy.
