The latest news that has TV world buzzing in the confirmation by actor Colin Farrell himself, that he has indeed signed on as the lead in the True Detective season 2 cast. That only leaves just two more slots for the lead actors in HBO's hit detective drama series. If the rumor mill is to be believed, the frontrunners for this role are Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights). It seems that the bevy of actors up for the roles in this critically acclaimed anthology series are getting narrower and narrower, when before, everybody from Brad Pitt, to Christian Bale, to Joaquin Phoenix were being attached to the male lead roles.
But this is not the same case with the lead actress role in the True Detective season 2 cast. Apparently, after the news that the woman's lead role has been trimmed down to just two actresses vying for it, with Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men and Rachel McAdams, there have been some major developments since.
According to The Wrap, the showrunners of True Detective season 2 are bringing in several actresses for callbacks. This would seem to indicate that it has not worked out for either Rachel McAdams or Elisabeth Moss. The list of actresses that are in consideration for the lead female role for the True Detective season 2 cast include the following: Brit Marling (Another Earth), Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones), and Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes). Plus, there are more popular actresses thrown into the mix, and they include Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Jamie Alexander, and Rosario Dawson.
It seems that HBO and the True Detective showrunners are content for now to keep everyone guessing as to who will replace the much coveted spots left vacant by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. We'll be keeping tabs on this developing story so stay tuned!
