It's official now. Even amidst his legal woes, Bryan Singer is set to direct the upcoming X-Men sequel. Entertainment news website Deadline reported that it has been confirmed that Singer will be coming back to direct the X-Men: Apocalypse. The tides had begun to turn for Singer, when the man who had filed sexual abuse charges against him, Michael Egan, formally withdrew the charges just last month.
Singer was the director for the first two installments of the X-Men movie franchise, X-Men, and X-2. He returned to helm the highly successful X-Men: Days of Future Past, which proved to be the most successful in the world wide box office, earning a reported $ 746 million. This is probably why he has been brought back to direct the X-Men Apocalypse movie.
CinemaBlend recently reported that Fox, which is producing the upcoming film is looking at a May 2016 X-Men: Apocalypse release date. This is in keeping with the Memorial Day premiere of its predecessor, X-Men: Days of Future Past which proved to be a successful formula, as far as box office receipts go.
Earlier this year in June, the Bryan Singer was busy working on the X-Men Apocalypse movie and even released a first photo from the film through his Instagram account, which shows the first half of what appears to be a script.
From what we can gather, the new X-Men Apocalypse movie will be set in Egypt after a long, and bloody war.
And in further news, it has been confirmed that this newest mutant movie will be shooting in Montreal, Canada. Production on the film project will happen as early as next month, with set construction to begin in December. The actual filming of the X-Men Apocalypse movie will commence in April next year. This was confirmed by the news outlet Journal de Montreal.
The movie will reportedly focus on X-Men: First Class characters, so expect the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy to descend upon Montreal April next year.
