Which smartphone is worth the purchase? The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, or the LG G2 Mini.
In terms of design and display, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini has 4.5 inches display (Super AMOLED) whose resolution is lower at 720x1280 pixels with 326ppi. This smartphone has the identical design of its bigger processor: rear panel with perforated dots, round edges and corners, it’s water and dust resistant and features a fingerprint sensor below the rear camera. It weighs 120 grams and its dimensions are 131.1×64.8×9.1 mm.
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is slimmer, with a flat back and slightly rounded edges and corners, it’s also water and dust resistant and features a shatter proof glass on top of its Triluminos IPS LCD DISPLAY. The screen measures 4.6 inches, it has the same resolution of 720x1280 pixels with a 319ppi and the body dimensions are 127.3×64.9×8.6 mm. It is 9 grams heavier than the S5 Mini.
The LG G2 Mini has a rear key which stands for the volume rocker and power button. The removable cover has a textured finish which looks very elegant. On the front panel is fitted a 4.7 inches IPS LCD Display which supports a resolution of 540x960 pixels with 234ppi. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and has a layer of Optimus UI on top of the operating system. Its dimension are 129.6x66x9.8 mm and it weighs 121 grams.
For the hardware and OS, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is the most powerful of the three, having a quad core Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.5GHz (Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset) which couples with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM and has a built in memory of 16GB, but allows a microSD card to obtain 128GB of storage. This smartphone operates on Android v4.4.4 (KitKat) OS.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini comes with a quad core 1.4GHz Cortex A7 processor, which is backed by an Exynos 3 Quad 3470 chipset. It uses a Mali-400MP4 GPU, hosts an internal memory of 16GB, with the possibility to expand it up to 64GB and runs on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) with 1.5GB of RAM.
The LG G2 Mini operates on the Android v4.4.2 (KitKat), comes with a quad core 1.2GHz Cortex A7 processor based on a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset and has an older version of Adreno GPU (305). The RAM capacity is 1GB and the internal memory is also small, of 8GB, but thankfully, you’re able to expand it up to 32GB.
For the battery and camera specs, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has a non removable battery with a capacity of 2600mAh which seems to last 14 hours when talking on 3G. The LG G2 Mini has a 2440mAh with 16 hours of talktime on 3G, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini offers a 2100mAh battery with a lower life time.
The Samsung and LG devices have 8MP rear cameras with autofocus, LED flash, HDR, geo tagging, face detection, panorama and video recording capabilities at 1080p@30fps. The front cameras are 2.1MP on the S5 Mini and 1.3MP on the G2 Mini. The Sony device excels with the outstanding 20.7MP back camera with autofocus, LED flash, HDR, 1/2.3” sensor size and other known features and for video calling, it provides a 2.2MP front camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini cost $442, while the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact cost about 640-700 dollars, and the LG G2 Mini cost $222.
