News today comes hot on the heels of yesterday's confirmation that Colin Farrell is on board as part of the upcoming season of True Detective. Now, another confirmation of a lead actor landing the much-coveted spot in HBO's hottest new drama. Yes it is true. Vince Vaughn is indeed the other big actor to confirmed as part of the True Detective season 2 cast.
It is also confirmed that Justin Lin, known for the Fast And Furious movies will be in the directorial chair for the first two episodes of this new installment in the HBO detective drama. This second season is reportedly made up of eight episodes, and the True Detective season 2 cast will be following an entirely new storyline. The plot follows two cops and a criminal, who must work through various bureaucratic twists and turns, and other such challenges in order to solve a murder case.
The shoot will be in Los Angeles, much to the delight of Irish actor Colin Farrell, who has revealed in an interview with Sunday World that this will help him stay close to family. "I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids," the actor shared.
The Irish actor will be portraying Ray Velcoro, a detective who is caught between two loyalties -- the corrupt police department where where works, and the mobster who has him on a leash. Meanwhile, Vince Vaughn will be playing Frank Semyon, a career criminal whose business partner is murdered.
The female lead for the True Detective season 2 cast is yet to be confirmed, with two previous frontrunners Rachel McAdams and Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss reportedly out of the running. Instead, seven new actresses have been thrown in the mix, Brit Marling (Another Earth), Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones), and Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes).
