Really? iPhone 6 Plus is bending?
Apple said that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are "the biggest advancements in iPhone history". This statement did not raise any doubt because as what Apple CEO Tim Cook claimed, "The iPhone is the most loved smartphone in the world with the highest customer satisfaction in the industry."
This is agreed upon by the study of SquareTrade, a firm that offers extended protection plans, as it found out that both models "are more durable than last year's model and a leading Android phone".
But can the public hear it from the brand new owners of the newest iPhone models? Reading from the report of "Hanzoh" in MacRumors Forums and others, iPhone 6 Plus seemed to be bending.
Some commenters replied to the post that it should not be put in the pocket and sit down as this will really cause the phone to bend. But users are in the habit of doing just that so they can easily reach out to the device whenever they need it - how's that for a more convenient smartphone experience?
Others recommended using leather case to keep its form. Regardless, some users claimed that it did bend - unlike other iPhone models and smartphones.
With the complaints spreading through the social media, Unbox Therapy took the concern to an actual bend test and had shown it to YouTube. The video showed a man holding the phone and bending it with force. It did bend.
According to Mashable, the issue that iPhone 6 Plus is bending makes sense. "First, consider that Apple uses aluminum as its metal to house the new phone, which is a very soft, bendable metal. Then, consider that the iPhone 6 Plus (and the iPhone 6) is thinner than previous phones, with added surface area. If you apply pressure - even the seemingly small amount of pressure that comes from one's front pocket - and metal can bend."
How will Apple address this issue?
