iPhone game "The Drowning" will now be made for movie.
According to Deadline, Radar Pictures hired the services of "The Expendables 3" and "Olympus Has Fallen" writers Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger to do the film adaptation.
"The Drowning" is a revolutionary, console quality first-person shooter (FPS) for iOs mobile. It was published by DeNA and developed by Scattered Entertainment, along with "Halo", "Crysis", "Far Cry" and "Battlefield".
Among the popular video games in 2013, "The Drowning" needs players to search for survival gear and weapons to enable them to get out of the inhuman world. It received a score of 55 out of 100 on Metacritic, a website that collects the views of most respected critics.
Ted Field, Mike Weber, and Michael Napoliello are the producers of the film adaptation. Jason Moskowitz and Tom Van Dell function as executive producers.
The story will focus on a deep-sea oil-drilling disaster that will cause ancient micro-organisms to be released into the water supply of an island town off the Seattle coast.
Radar Pictures are known for producing horror-thrillers; among these are "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Amityville Horror".
Sam Barsanti of AV Club said that making the iPhone game "The Drowning" into a movie is a new concept. There have been flicks that were based on classic video games, such as "Street Fighter", "Super Mario Bros.", "Mortal Kombat", "Resident Evil", and "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within". However, this is the first time for an iOs mobile.
For sure, video gamers will look forward to seeing the characters in the iPhone video game "The Drowning" 'live' in the big screen. It will be a lot of fun. It is just too sad that they will not be able to decide which strategies to play - they will have to settle on their seats to watch how the writers will design the fate of the characters.
