Here's some good news for die-hard 'Sherlock' fans!
According to Bustle, production for 'Sherlock' season 4, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the brilliant detective and Martin Freeman as his best friend Dr. Watson, is already "in the works!"
Executive producer Mark Gatiss has reportedly confirmed that they have "moved significantly closer to getting a date in the diary for series four."
Although the EP's statement didn't specifically say when the fourth season will air exactly, it has still given hope to fans of the hit series.
Creator Steven Moffat understands fans' impatience for the Emmy Award-winning series. However, they still can't force filming in respect to both 'Sherlock' stars prior movie commitments.
The series' filming would still depend on Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's schedule. Both actors will be filming for the third instalment for 'The Hobbit' as well as their own respective movies for next year.
"Benedict and Martin are making some movies. If you say 'Who cares about movies?' I agree with you, but they are doing them so we've got to schedule around that," creator Steven Moffat reportedly said.
Previous reports indicated that 'Sherlock' season 4 will be preceded by a Christmas special in 2015 before the three regular episodes will air on January 2016.
Sherlock's arch enemy, Moriarty, will reportedly be back for the fourth season, piquing fans' curiosity as to how he survived or faked his own death in the season 2 finale.
Moffat recently promised to "top season 3" with plans so "devastating" that it supposedly reduced the cast "to tears."
Meanwhile, 'Sherlock' has released a limited edition gift box set. 'Sherlock: The Complete Seasons 1-3' not only features all the episodes in Blu-Ray and DVD, it also has outtakes, art cards, and memorabilia busts of both main characters.
The gift box set will be available for purchase on November 4.
