Good news for the fans of the book, the Pride And Prejudice And Zombies movie looks to be on a roll with the latest news that came out today. The movie has been bought for distribution in the United States by Screen Gems.
What's more the already exciting cast has been beefed up with some very familiar names from a certain hit HBO show. Aside from Lily James (Downton Abbey), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Sam Riley (Maleficent), Douglas Booth (Romeo And Juliet), and Suki Waterhouse two new cast members have been added to the Pride And Prejudice and Zombies movie. Lena Heady, who plays evil Queen Cersei, and Charles Dance, who played Tywin Lannister, both from HBO's Game of Thrones, are set to star in this Jane Austen parody.
The story is based on the book with the same title, written by Seth Grahame-Smith (who also wrote Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). Its plot follows the storyline of the original Pride and Prejudice novel, but this time, zombies are added to the mix! In the novel they are called, the "stricken, the "undead," and the "unmentionables." As if finding rich husbands for eligible young women weren't hard enough, these young ladies now have to toughen up by becoming fearsome zombie fighting warriors . It will be fun to see how the Pride And Prejudice And Zombies movie will show how the Bennett sisters in will be trained by their father in martial arts and weapons training to fight off the undead. Meanwhile, their mother's preoccupation is to marry them off to suitably wealthy husbands.
The Pride and Prejudice and Zombie s movie was originally supposed to be starred in by Natalie Portman, who bought the rights to novel. The actress also originally planned to have David O. Russel (Silver Linings Playbook) direct the film. Now Portman is still on board as producer, but another director will be taking on directorial duties, Burr Steers (17 Again).
