"Now You See Me" was an unexpected hit during the summer of 2013 which was dominated by "Iron Man 3" and "Fast and Furious 6." A creative heist movie based on magic found its own niche and now the sequel, "Now You See Me 2" is already given its release date--a prime release date in Summer: June 10, 2016.

The first installment of the movie "Now You See Me" seemed to have cast a perfect spell as it pulled a surprise and earned more than $350 million globally - out-grossing big-budget summer films in 2013 like "The Lone Ranger" ($175.6 million) and "White House Down" ($125.1 million). Lionsgate Summit Entertainment was too happy for the outcome that it decided to do the sequel and planned to begin production a year after.

Foreign pre-sales could be the reason behind the unexpected success of this movie that only had $75 million in budget.

THR quotes Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer . "This is a perfect example of how we're benefiting from the unique international infrastructure of output deals, joint ventures and self-distribution we've set in place to maximize value and minimize risk."

Fans will get to see Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Isla Fisher back on their roles in the "Now You See Me 2" on the June 2016 release date. Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Caine will also return in the movie. The plot, however, remains a secret.

From Den Of Geek: "Louis Letterier will not come back as the director. Instead, Jon Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) will take over the duties. 'Now You See Me 2' will be produced by Bobby Cohen, Robert Orci, and Alex Kurtzman."

The crowded summer of 2016 lists Sony's "Uncharted" movie at the same release date as "Now You See Me 2". "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 2" and "Sausage Party" will come a week before and "How to Train Your Dragon 3", "Finding Dory", and "The Nice Guys" a week after.
