However, despite its global success, a middle school in California decided to ban the book from their library because the novel dealt with teenage death and sex.

According to Hypable, "the Riverside Unified School District's "book reconsideration committee" voted to take Green's The Fault in Our Stars out of Frank Augustus Miller Middle School."

"The vote was called when a middle school parent voiced concern over the content of The Fault in Our Stars. Her worries? According to a local newspaper, 'the subject matter involves teens dying of cancer who use crude language and have sex.'"

TFIOS author John Green took to Tumblr his reaction to the school's move, saying:

"I guess I am both happy and sad. I am happy because apparently young people in Riverside, California will never witness or experience mortality since they won't be reading my book, which is great for them."

"But I am also sad because I was really hoping I would be able to introduce the idea that human beings die to the children of Riverside, California and thereby crush their dreams of immortality."

Fans, most especially young adults, have continuously talked about the movie. No wonder it is now dubbed as the "most buzzed about film on social media."

According to an article over at Variety, tracking firm Fizziology has come up with a list of the most mentioned movie titles on the internet. "The Fault in our Stars" has been mentioned about 5 million times across several social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, which makes it the most talked about flick this summer.

Fizziology creator Ben Carlson explained, "John Green did an amazing job bringing fans of the book through the process of making the film and ultimately releasing the film. The film itself was so well received and anticipated by an audience that tends to be pretty noisy on social media."
