Kristen Stewart in "Camp X-Ray" movie sheds her "Twilight" vampire image, as she displays her fine acting skills by taking on a dramatic role as a young soldier.
Pop Sugar shared that Kristen Stewart in "Camp X-Ray" movie portrays the role of Private Amy Cole, a female soldier assigned in Guantanamo Bay. Here she proves her critics wrong by effectively doing heavy drama, thus putting her fine acting chops in the spotlight.
According to Forbes, the drama centralizes on the relationship between Private Cole (Kristen Stewart) and a detainee who has been in the camp for eight years. Their bond could be described neither as romantic nor platonic. Nonetheless, they connected emotionally, and this set off the sequence of events that comprise the heart of the story.
The site noted Stewart's powerful portrayal of her role in this film, which coincided with that of her co-star Payman Maadi who played the detainee. The producers flaunted it as one of the strongest points of the movie by featuring the praises they received from some critics.
Pop Sugar added that in the film, Kristen's character overstepped the boundaries of the rules governing the prison when she connected with the detainee. Their growing and deepening bond affected her view of her position.
The image that the actress donned for the film not only succeeded in bringing out the best of her acting abilities, but it also contrasts that of her Bella Swan character in "Twilight."
The drama indie flick with political overtones debuted at Sundance. Written and directed by first-time director Peter Sattler, it also stars Lane Garrison, John Carroll Lynch and Tara Holt. IFC films took charge of the production of the flick, which garnered an R-rating.
Viewers will get to see Kristen Stewart in "Camp X-Ray" movie shine brighter - not as a vampire, but as a serious dramatic actress - when it opens in cinemas on October 28, reported Deadline.
