If it's up to him, 'Sherlock' cast Benedict Cumberbatch wants to play the genius detective well into his old age, as People's "Sexiest Man Alive" promised phenomenal new episodes for the BBC series.
In an interview with Empire magazine, through UK's Mirror, "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch said that he loves his character so much that he doesn't see himself refusing the role as long as there's still a story to be told.
"As long as the ideas are still there and the audience still wants it and as long as Martin [Freeman] and I are not so infirm we can no longer remember the lines and shuffle round the set," he said. "I'd love to do it into old age, I really would."
"The Hobbit" cast Martin Freeman, in an interview with London's Telegraph said "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch will return on the small screen for the series special by Christmas next year.
"If that's going to be a special, I'm speaking off-message here, if this was New Labour I'd get fired - I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That's what I understand," said Martin Freeman, who plays Dr. Watson.
In the same interview, Martin Freeman revealed they don't really stick to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's source material.
"[But] we generally follow the trajectory of what Conan Doyle did. So he [Watson] gets married, and then Mary dies - so at some point presumably she'll die," Martin Freeman added.
Meanwhile, "Sherlock" cast Benedict Cumberbatch in the same interview with Empire promised that the new episodes for series will be phenomenal, said Huffington Post UK.
"I can't give any plot away... but their [the writers'] pitch for the Christmas special and the series beyond that is just phenomenal," he said. "We've never seen [Sherlock] being really pressed yet, so that will be interesting."
