Showtime has added Patti Lupone as a cast member for 'Penny Dreadful' season 2. She joins previously announced pair Helen McCrory, who plays Madame Kali, and Simon Rusell Beale, who plays Egyptian culture expert Ferdinand Lyle. Both characters have been upped as regulars after appearing in a few season one episodes.
According to Deadline, Lupone will reportedly play a very important character in Vanessa Ives' (Eva Green) life. The Tony award-winner was last seen in FX' 'American Horror Story.'
McCrory, on the other hand, will reportedly have evil intentions towards Vanessa in the second season.
A deleted clip from season one was shown at the San Diego Comic Con last July which features McCrory's Madame Kali sharing her dark plans for the tormented psychic.
"What games we'll have, Miss Ives and I, when one will live and one will die," the mysterious spiritualist reportedly told Ferdinand Lyle in the clip, according to International Business Times.
Another Tony winner, Douglas Hodge will also appear as a guest in the Showtime series, along with Sarah Greene and Jonny Beauchamp.
Meanwhile, producer Christopher King has been updating 'Penny Dreadful' fans with how eerily well the series' filming is going through social media.
He shared photos of a cemetery covered in snow on Twitter, teasing fans with a possible death. Whose death, though, fans will have to wait and see in 'Penny Dreadful' season 2.
Director James Cooper has also been teasing fans of the show with his own photos of the set and mysterious characters lurking in the dark.
The 'Penny Dreadful' team also turned Dublin's Convent Garden into a Victorian era-looking area.
Meanwhile, Showrunner John Logan previously promised a "much more threatening supernatural world" for 'Penny Dreadful' season 2.
