Executive Producer Julie Plec, who brought two of TV's most favorite vampire stories to life, will be bringing over another 'Vampire Diaries' character to 'The Originals' season 2.
Michael Trevino, who plays hybrid Tyler, guest starred in the 'Vampire Diaries' spinoff's debut season. For this season, Plec will be bringing in another actress - and test her acting ability at the same time.
In an interview with E! Online, Plec revealed that Nina Dobrev will be joining the spinoff show's cast lineup.
She won't be crossing over as Elena or Katherine, though.
"There's a lot of people that could cross over, and when we plan our crossovers, we like to think of the most clever way to integrate 'The Vampire Diaries' mythology into 'The Originals' mythology," Plec said.
What better way to incorporate both shows' mythology than to go deep into Klaus and Elijah's past.
She shared, "There was a character's name introduced a long time ago in season three in association with Klaus [Joseph Morgan] and Elijah [Daniel Gillies] and how they became vampires and a girl that they both loved a long time ago who was the original doppelgänger, Tatia."
Nina Dobrev, as the first doppelganger Tatia, will appear in the fifth episode of 'The Originals' season 2 that will air on November 3.
As fans of TVD would remember, both brothers fell in love with Tatia but she was killed by Esther (Alice Evans) to stop her from turning Klaus into a hybrid.
Plec promised, "There's lots of secrets and scandal and romance and terrible tragedy attached to her character. We'll get to go back into the past to see how that all played out."
Why bring Tatia's memory back to the forefront for this season? According to Plec, that particular thread in the story was "kind of a dangling chad."
She added, "It's something we brought up a long time ago and never paid off."
How well do you think Dobrev will do portraying another doppelganger character in 'The Originals' season 2?
