If Eva Green will play the role of the head mistress Miss Peregrine, Asa Butterfield may portray the lead role in Tim Burton's "Peregrine's Home of Peculiars", the shortened title of the movie adaptation of Ransom Riggs' best-selling novel, "Miss Peregrine's Home of Peculiar Children", based on The Wrap report.
The "Hugo" and "Ender's Game" actor Butterfield is said to have received offer for the role of Jacob Portman, the 16-year-old boy who travels to Wales to know the truth behind his grandfather's death. On his quest, he lands on the ruins of Miss Peregrine's orphanage where he discovers people are still living in the remains. He also finds out that the children in the orphanage are not just ordinary ones because they have special powers.
Burton hasn't announced yet the cast of "Peregrine's Home of Peculiars", except we know that "Bond" actress Green will be playing the titular role. If Butterfield will get the role, then we now have two names on the list of the cast.
Butterfield's pale skin, skinny limbs, and dark hair as well as his big eyes may have caught the attention of Burton to eye him to cast in the fantasy film. But of course, the acting skill of the young actor that he showed in "Hugo", "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas", and "Ender's Game" is most likely the primary reason for the offer of the lead role.
Last September 4, Butterfield was at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2014 at Ryerson Theatre for the math drama film "X + Y" directed by Morgan Matthews. The 17-year-old actor portrays the role of a timid teenage math prodigy Nathan who finds it difficult to relate to people even to his loving, patient widowed mother, played by Sally Hawkins. The teenager starts to find the real adventure in his life when attentive teacher Mr. Humphreys, portrayed by Rafe Spall, takes interest in his talents in numbers, particularly prime numbers.
So, while the negotiation is ongoing between Burton and Butterfield, people will see him on big screen for "X + Y" film since the production for "Peregrine's Home Of Peculiars" will start February next year to make it to the March 4, 2016 release.
