Atlas Ad Platform Lets Facebook Users To Sell Ads That 'Follow' Them Across The Web And Mobile Devices! Will These Be A Good Marketing Strategy?

Great news for advertisers, or maybe not so good news for users concerned on their personal information: On Monday, Facebook will make use information as it leans from users for its advertisement network called Atlas, which it will function as non-Facebook websites on what the social media site knows about the users.

Atlas used to be with Microsoft property that Facebook purchased in 2013 at $100 million that Facebook has now established to save from downfall. The ad site is different from Audience Network, a mobile advertising network Facebook launched in April that was geared for app developers. On the contrary, Altas is like a form of Google AdWords, which will permit let advertisers follow users across mobile devices and web. For example, Pepsi could use Atlas to advertisers one of its brand on a game app or sports site that is not affiliated with Facebook. Facebook head of advertising technology said during an interview with New York Times, 'We are bringing all of the people-based marketing functions that marketers are used to doing on Facebook and allowing them to do that across the web."

Erik Johnson, head of Atlas, announced the news about the new network in a blog post, he wrote that the network answers a common restriction of cookies, the business's tool for serving ads and tracking users on desktop.

He explained, "Cookies don't work on mobile, are becoming less accurate in demographic targeting and can't easily or accurately measure the customer purchase funnel across browsers and devices or into the offline world. The blog presents Atlas as the solution since it uses "people-based marketing."

At the same time, the decision may not be suitable to some users who dubiously think how Facebook uses their personal data, it shows a new alternative to Google and new options for advertisers. The pitch would be even more interesting if Twitter jumps into the network.
