The HBO Prohibition drama is on its last season already, and plenty of fans are hanging on to every episode to catch the last bit of Nucky (Steve Buscemi) and the gang. Throughout the four seasons of the show, Boardwalk Empire has not been able to produce the kind of stellar ratings that other HBO shows such as Game of Thrones or The Sopranos has been able to. But the show does have its share of devoted fans who love the Prohibition drama and its cast of characters. Now it would seem, that with the showing of Boardwalk Empire season 5, episode 1, the show is finally getting its groove and winning brand new fans in the process.
Earlier this year, at the Television Television Critics Association the show's creator confirmed that this is the final season of Boardwalk Empire. You can bet that's enough motivation for the team behind the show to make this their best season ever. In fact, showrunner Terry Winter promised fans that this final season will be its most "unforgiving" yet. And if the Boardwalk Empire season 5 episode 1 premiere has shown anything, this is going to be the finale everyone's been hoping for.
Nucky, played by Steve Buscemi is the main character in the show and it seems that he is one hero that we can finally sympathize with. In the Boardwalk Empire season 5 episode 1 show, there are plenty of flashbacks that show us a whole other side of this violent gangster.
The Boardwalk Empire final season 5 trailer was not very comforting in this regard, and by all indications, it would probably be a bloodbath just as in the prior seasons with the horrific deaths of many of the beloved main characters.
But we can't help but wish that he'd somehow make his way out of this season alive! Bringing back Margaret, in Boardwalk Empire season episode 1 did wonders to make us root for Nucky!
It's also a lot of fun to see real life historical figures show up in Boardwalk Empire. Famous names such as gangster Al Capone and Luciano, Eliot Ness, Joe Kennedy have all made an appearance or two.
It's all very promising from the Boardwalk Empire season 5 episode 1, in terms of the show's direction and theme, and this promises to be one of the greatest finale ever pulled off on television!
