Cung Le news reveals that the mixed martial arts veteran tested positive for banned substances after his fight with Michael Bisping in August. The UFC middleweight contender was consequently given a nine-month suspension.

Le fought Bisping in Macau in late August for UFC Fight Night, were he was badly beaten to a fourth round technical knockout loss. To add more insult to injury, Le was found to have human growth hormones in his system after the fight.

The Cung Le news was reported by Bloody Elbow.

Prior to the fight, Michael Bisping had already questioned a picture online, showing a photo of Cung Le flexing his muscles in front of the camera.

"I have seen this picture that is making the rounds on the Internet, and my son actually emailed it to me and said, 'Dad, are you sure Cung Le isn't on (testosterone-replacement therapy)?'" Bisping said in an interview with MMA Junkie prior to the event. "And I laughed."

"It's funny how his genetics seem to have kicked in at 42," he added. "I'm sure he trained hard his entire life, but he never had a physique like he has now in his 20s or his 30s. But he's got there in his 40s."

Cung Le news also reveals that while no details were laid out about the incident, the UFC did release an official statement regarding the matter.

"UFC middleweight Cung Le tested positive for an excess level of Human Growth Hormone in his system following his fight at UFC Fight Night in Macao, China on August 23. Due to his positive test result, Le was suspended by the UFC and notified that he violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC."

"The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. Le will serve a nine-month suspension and, at its conclusion, will need to pass a drug test before competing in the UFC again."
