"Dead Rising: Watchtower" movie has started filming and will be a VOD and Crackle reality soon. The film gives a new twist to zombie horror flicks by fusing it with adventure a-la Indiana Jones style.
As director Zach Lipovsky puts it in his interview with Game Spot, "Indiana Jones with zombies. Fun, scary dramatic action."
The director talked at length about the merits of the game he liked most. He singled out the fact that is an adventure laced with dark horrifying elements. He said that he made it a point to include in the script instances whereby he felt scared or laughed while playing the game.
However, the "Dead Rising: Watchtower" movie is not a story projected as a straightforward movie version of the game. The plot follows the horrific adventure of new heroes in their struggle to survive a zombie outbreak. Lipovsky noted how well the film suited the Dead Rising plotline premise. He added that the setting occurs between the Fortune City outbreak in "Dead Rising 2" and the Los Perdidos event in "Dead Rising 3," reported Game Spot.
IGN shared more details regarding the plot. They revealed that there are four heroes in question for the "Dead Rising: Watchtower" movie. The action revolves around their effort to avoid being infected while uncovering the original source of the outbreak.
With the title and cast in place, "Dead Rising: Watchtower" movie started shooting last September 30 in Vancouver, Canada. Jesse Metcalfe who played Christopher Ewing on "Dallas" leads the cast, along with Dennis Haysbert (Sin City) and Virginia Madsen (Witches of East End).
Tim Carter penned the script for the film that Tomas Harlan produced through their Contradiction films brand (IGN). The movie will premiere on Crackle, which is under Sony, before becoming available to other streaming sites and then DVD, reported Game Spot.
