It is about time to disclose that the revival chopping block is the Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan buddy cop trilogy, Rush Hour. The film was first released in 1998 and it made $250 million globally on a $33 million budget. That form of success led to a sequel, which gained $100 million which less than the original, then six years after, Rush Hour 3 was shown, and the law of falling returns finally made up with the series. According to critics of threequel, the totals of the box office fell in the years, it seems that Carter and Lee's next stop is on TV.
There are some ways that Rush Hour TV version could go. Season 1 could show the two mismatched cops over the course of the pilot, bonding, then move towards the common case of the week's process style, with some wacky comedy mash ups. However, the producer could decide to concentrate on a season spanning a case for the two cops to solve, one wacky hijinks and broken up side missions. But of course, Lawrence might decide to go to wacky scrubs level, and have the show to be total farce, then again, that would not be really in sustaining the soul of the franchise.
The Rush TV is a New Line Property is in the process of negotiation with WBTV, though no network is yet entered the project. At the same time, eventual pick up looks very possible on the side, it just needs some formality. One good question is that, who will stars in the Rush Hour TV, will Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker will be involved in the said project in other way? No announcement yet, but we will surely update you about it, as it is still in early development and no specific date for the premiere yet.
