Hopes were high that the duchess of Cambridge would recover soon from the severe bout of morning sickness that she has been enduring ever since she has been pregnant with the second royal baby. But the latest Kate Middleton news sadly tells us that this is not so.
The duchess has had to cancel another royal engagement because she is still under a bout of hyperemesis gravidarum. She was supposed to grace the opening ceremonies of the Clore Art Room at the Barlby Primary School in London. This would have been Kate's first public appearance since getting pregnant.
The spokesman for the duchess broke this latest Kate Middleton news with this official statement: "The Duchess of Cambridge continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum and was unable to attend this event today in person. The decision to undertake engagements is being kept under review on a case by case basis."
Kate herself sent personal message to the people at the event she was to miss. "I am truly sorry that I cannot be with you all today as you celebrate this milestone," the statement read. "My sincere apologies for not being able to join you, but I hope that I will have an opportunity to visit Barlby and see the Clore Art Room soon."
Earlier last month, the duchess had to cancel her first solo trip to Malta, where she was scheduled to grace the celebrations of the island country's independence day. Her doctors in Kensington Palace had advised her against the trip, because of her condition. It will be recalled that the duchess suffered from the same severe form of morning sickness during her pregnancy with Prince George.
Some people are speculating that this latest Kate Middleton news is another proof that the duchess is expecting twins when she gives birth this spring. Folks in England are betting on this theory, and a betting company in England called William Hill is reported to have received 200 bets that the duchess is expecting twins.
In any case, there are plenty more royal engagements lined up for Kate in the months to come, and so here's hoping the duchess is able to recover soon.
