Jeff Bezos Amazon CEO Eyes 'Amazing' India Grow With SMEs, New Ideas, Power Of Internet, Mobile Platforms; Fire Phone $0.99/ 2Yr Price Cut A Buffer From Apple iPhone 6 Sales?
Jeff Bezos Amazon CEO is pleased with the success of Amazon 's one billion operations in India and he wants to continue investing in the country, signaling 'amazing' growth in the wake of electing a new prime minister, N. Modi, whom he visited during a four-day trip to India.
The Indian Express reported Jeff Bezos Amazon.com's CEO, as saying, "The vision is to provide the Indian SME's the global distribution so that they are able to reach any customer anywhere in the world using the power of internet technology."
Throughout his four day visit to India, the Amazon.com CEO and founder reiterated that Amazon is built on its focus on innovation and invention and the online retailer consistently looks for news ideas to fit its business model.
Bezos joked about the local division of Amazon.com, "Amazon India is a local Indian company and I do not help them, it just happens to have a rich uncle in Seattle who can send money from time to time," said the Indian news paper.
Jeff Bezos, Amazon CEO noted that the huge market for mobiles in India is going to have a big impact in the country and Amazon will be tapping into it. At the same time, Amazon.com plans to upgrade its services, develop mobile platforms in order to assist small businesses get more out of the Internet.
"Don't be intimidated by the Internet, lean into the future and get hooked to the digital platform." Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO of Amazon, told a group of Indian Small & Medium Enterprises, reported an Indian news portal.
Amazon's Bezos, who owns Blue Origin LLC, a spaceflight firm, recently inked a deal with Boeing and Lockheed to provide a rocket engine for space vehicles to be used by NASA. Other reports have also confirmed that Amazon will be generating more Internet-lined home gadgets and wearable's, to tap into the concept of 'Internet of things.'
In other Amazon.com news, the biggest online retailer in the world will be slashing the price of its Fire Phone to $0.99 on a 2-year contract plan just after six months of release.
When Hindu BusinessLine asked Jeff Bezos Amazon's CEO about what he expects in the next 3 years, he replied, I hope that in the big things it stays the same. Customer centricity is one. The other thing is passion for invention. He added, "I hope in 3-4 years or 10 years from now we are still inventing. I also hope we are patient and have a long term view, instead of having a quarter view. We would gamble, an educated gamble and take a 5 year view.
