Narnia will be back as prequel!
As per Christian Post report, it cited Walden Media who confirmed that "The Chronicles Of Narnia Prequel: The Magician's Nephew" is in the works!
Previously, the next installment of franchise film was rumored to adapt the "Silver Chair", which was adapted and filmed as a BBC television series of six episodes in 1990. (check Wikipedia).
During the interview of The Christian Post with Michael Flaherty, co-founder and president of Walden Media, the president stated:
"We are starting to talk to Fox and talk to the C.S. Lewis estate now about the Magician's Nephew being our next film."
The summary plot of "The Chronicles Of Narnia Prequel: The Magician's Nephew" book version reads:
"The story begins in London during the summer of 1900. Two children, Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, meet while playing in the adjacent gardens of a row of terraced houses. They decide to explore the attic connecting the houses, but take the wrong door and surprise Digory's Uncle Andrew in his study. Uncle Andrew tricks Polly into touching a yellow magic ring, causing her to vanish. Then he explains to Digory that he has been dabbling in magic, and that the rings allow travel between one world and another. He persuades Digory, effectively through blackmail, to take another yellow ring to follow wherever Polly has gone, and two green rings so that they both can return."
Based on Den Of Geeks Top 95 movie sequels that are currently in the works, they listed "The Chronicles Of Narnia Prequel: The Magician's Nephew". According to the source, the last installment of "The Chronicles Of Narnia" titled "The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" box office performance didn't reach the expectation of Fox, making the production decided to pause the franchise. But soon, they came up to get a fourth film.
"The Chronicles Of Narnia" series is written by C.S Lewis (created in year 1949 and 1954) and the publisher is HarperCollins. Deadline reported Lewis' upcoming Narnia series movie installment centers around Digory Kirke (the younger version of Professor Kirke from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) and Polly Plummer.
As of the moment, there is no news yet about the casts and the target year and date of premiere.
