Latest LA Lakers news doesn't bode well for the start of the season as Nick Young suffered an injury trying to steal the ball from Kobe Bryant during practice. His return is still uncertain but that means the Black Mamba will change position at the start of the season.

Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times revealed LA Lakers news when he tweeted on October 5: "Byron Scott said Kobe Bryant will play some 3 with Nick Young out with right thumb injury."

"Before Young suffered the thumb injury on Friday, there had been some debate about whether Kobe would get some time at the three spot. Wesley Johnson is expected to be named the starting small forward come Oct. 28, but it remains uncertain who Scott will have coming off the bench at that position," wrote Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation blog.

In a report from NBA.com, Nick Young will undergo surgery under the capable hands of Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. The estimated return of Swaggy P will be announced after the surgery.

But his agent has declared that Nick Young might be out six to eight weeks because of the injury.

The injury appeared to be taken in stride by Lakers coach Byron Scott who told reporters: "My answer to him was if you would have moved your feet, you wouldn't have hurt your hand. He just started laughing."

In other LA Lakers news, team assistant coach Paul Pressey told Mike Truddell of NBA.com that Kobe Bryant looked very impressive during practices.

"To see him, this year, facilitate a little more and helping getting these young guys involved and showing them how to play, because he can do it with the ball or without the ball [...] that's the beauty of having him is the fact that he can cause problems either way," he said.

He said that biggest adjustment for the young guys is to match up to his intensity.
